Consider the momme rating [rather than the thread count] of silk. Not all silk pillowcases are considered equal. Many manufacturers don’t disclose this info. A momme rating higher than 19 momme is perfect for pillowcases, 22 momme is that little bit better.

Natural, Luxury, Mulberry silk. Our 22 momme silk pillowcase range are machine washable. With care they should last a few years. Hand washing is the best option or machine wash in a delicates bag in tepid warm water with like colours. Silk approved detergent is a must, just check the back of the label – and less is more. Three sizes in our range: Standard: This size is our most popular size – fitting most standard size pillows. 48 x 66 cm.
Queen: Our queen size Mulberry silk pillowcase is perfect for people with a larger pillow.48 x 72 cm.
King: Our King size silk pillowcase measures 50 x 92 cm. Please measure your pillow (not current pillowcase) from seam to seam across the top of your pillow, to decide which pillowcase size will fit your individual pillow as all pillow brands will differ. Are silk pillowcases good for hair?

Do silk pillowcases really work?

This depends on why you want a silk pillowcase. If it is for the beauty benefits, or a small touch of luxury then yes!

Comparing to linen, polyester or cotton. Our Mulberry silk doesn’t cause rubbing, creasing or dragging of your skin. The smooth surface is where the magic is. Reducing sleep creases and bed hair as you sleep.

Which is better satin or silk pillowcase?

If health is important to you, you probably don’t want to compromise on your pillowcase. A stunning natural product like silk is usually worth every dollar spent.

Satin is a word to describe a type of fabric. Shiny on one side and dull on the other. Satin can be made of a synthetic, manufactured fabric – or a natural, hypoallergenic fabric like silk.

Of all silks, Mulberry silk is the best. You can still get some great hair benefits from a synthetic satin pillowcase but many people also report they are sticky, sweaty and often cause skin breakouts.

What are the pros and cons of silk pillowcases?

There are a few cons to a real silk pillowcase, first of all silk is a delicate fabric, for this reason it can be harder to treat stains. Silk cannot be hot washed or washed with harsh detergents such as enzyme products.

Silk has a higher price tag also, and you also need to be sure you are getting quality silk as many manufacturers do not disclose the quality and many unsuspecting customers have been caught before finding our range. Many brands also sell silk that is too thin for the wear and tear on a pillowcase each night. We do not sell anything less than 19 momme for a reason.

We think the pros really outweigh the cons when it comes to a silk pillowcase. Quality Mulberry silk is a hypoallergenic, cooling fabric. You spend many hours in bed, you may as well put comfort first. The hair and skin benefits are well worth the price tag – especially when a quality Lujo Home pillowcase should last for a few years if treated well.

Is 22 or 25 momme silk better?

This is personal preference. The 25 momme silk is a slightly heavier thread, and for this reason can feel a tad less silky to the feel. Some people prefer 22 momme for this reason. If this is not an issue for you and you would prefer a fabric with slightly more weight you may prefer our 25 momme silk pillowcase range. 25 momme is slightly more expensive which gives the 22 momme an advantage when it comes to cost. Silk pillowcase 22 momme would be our choice for beauty.

We sell both options to give our customers like yourself a choice.

What is the highest momme for a silk pillow case?

Anything less than 19 momme is really not suitable for a pillow case. We sell from 19-25 momme. We do not sell anything higher than 25 momme for a reason.

Some manufacturers market the higher the momme the better but this is not always the case. 30 momme silk and above is really not smooth enough to get the best health benefits for your hair and skin, this is why we will never stock it.

I bought two king size silk pillowcase from Lujo Home after scouring the net for days. I decided on Lujo Home because I’m a fan of supporting a small, honest, Aussie business. I have really really long thick hair (which I used to wake up with a knotty mess) and sensitive skin.

I had been thinking of silk for ages. But the cost put me off – best decision ever, finally buying them.

My hair is smooth every morning and I’m getting less breakouts on my face. My skin texture has improved. Because I’m not rolling around uncomfortable all night. Or scratching my face due to the course feeling of (even good quality) cotton. The silk quality – stunning it’s like sleeping on a slice of heaven. Buttery soft I’ll never get over it.

The price – a bargain if you ask me because they’re so much better than I expected. The sizing for the king size was totally accurate and I’m sleeping better than ever.

Not to bang on about a pillowcase too much lol but it’s kinda changed my life if you’re unsure just BUY THEM.
