Why Our Lilac Mulberry Silk Bedding Took Longer To Return

Some colours are more popular than we ever expect.

Lilac is one of them.

Over the past few months, demand for our Lilac Mulberry Silk collection has been so strong that we completely sold through our previous production run. While we always do our best to keep popular colours available, this time we reached a point where there simply wasn’t any fabric left to continue production.

Unlike many retailers, we don’t simply source a replacement from a different supplier or substitute a similar shade. Maintaining consistency across our collections is incredibly important to us, so when Lilac sold out, we went right back to the beginning of the process.

The bedding in the photo above is one of our lovely customers order. It took a little longer than expected for her pre-order. Why? Before we could make more bedding, we first needed to have more silk fabric woven and dyed in the same beautiful Lilac shade our customers know and love.

The wait has been a little longer than usual, but we’re delighted to say that Lilac is finally back.

Why This Colour Took Longer To Return

Many people are surprised to learn just how much work goes into producing Mulberry Silk bedding.

When a colour sells out, we can’t simply order more finished products from a shelf. The silk fabric itself must be produced, dyed, inspected and prepared before it can be transformed into pillowcases, sheets and quilt covers.

This process takes time, but it’s one of the reasons we’re able to offer such a large range of colours and products while maintaining the quality standards our customers expect.

We believe it’s worth waiting a little longer to ensure the finished product is exactly right.
